the search. i wish i could say we went to someplace cool to get our tree, someplace where you hike through inches-high snow, with your hardy dog at your side wearing a hand-knit sweater, carrying your hot chocolate in a red plaid mug, singing christmas carols as you peruse the field-grown beauties that smell of pine and sage and all those smells that trees grown in real nature smell like. but we didn't. we got it at smith's marketplace. but you couldn't tell that from the picture, could you? maybe you could. and maybe i've been looking at the jcrew christmas catalog too much. anywho, we now have our tree. yay!
j was worried that since we don't have a rack on this car, that there'd be issues tying the tree on. but the trusty employees at the tree lot made short work of our nonexistent problem. plus, let's be honest-i'm not the kind of girl who uses any equipment that requires the use of one of those racks anyway.
when wins was taking his nap today, the elves came and decorated the tree. but they left him some ornaments to hang.

i do realize that the star is a little crooked at the top. ok, it's a lot crooked. but i think it gives it a certain amount of charm, don't you? maybe a little dr. seussian? just go with it.
i feel like our christmas decorations are 90% complete now (i'm making a tree skirt which will replace the somewhat haggard and too-small one that is currently occupying our floor space).
happy start of the holidays!

When did Wins grow up? He looks so much older. I love the tree... I wish we were home long enough during the holidays for a real tree to make sense.
He does look older..maybe the hair?! Anyhow, a little known fact is that Smith's Marketplace is JUST like cutting your own tree in the forest. LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR! Glad you guys are making merry.

You have the perfect Christmas tree window! (Either that or the perfect window for a sexy leg lamp!)
